Okadigbo also known as the Oyi of Oyi was Vice presidential aspirant of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) with Mohammad Buhari, as leader of the ticket.

Unlike other Igbo politicians who aligned themselves with their Igbo kinsmen, Okadigbo aligned himself with the North and had more respect for the Northern region and its people.

Okadigbo attended the rally which was held in Kano State Nigeria.

Apart from the Governor of Kano State, no other ANPP Governor was in attendance which was unusual.

Aware of Okadigbo’s respiratory health challenge (asthma), the then federal government under the reign of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did not want the rally to proceed.

Security personnel mounted the gate to prevent entry, but this did not sit well with the Kano State Governor; Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, so he ordered the youths to bring down the gate allowing opposition figures to enter.

Police in order to instill calmness released tear gas which they allegedly poured on ANPP leaders in the rally.

According to Hajiya Naja’tu Mohammad report to Voice Of America (VOA), Okadigbo’s body was allegedly soaked with the offensive smelling liquid.

He lost control of his breathe after inhaling the substance and the other party men administered first aid on him in a bid to revive him.

He eventually gave up the ghost in his Asokoro home, Abuja a day or two after the tear gas event.

Many still believed that there is more to his dæth.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ex-presidential running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday explained why he and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Okowa said they defected from PDP to APC because they wanted to connect Delta State to the goodwill and resources at the federal level in Abuja.

Last week, Okowa and Oborevwori officially defected to APC, a situation that seems to have unsettled the PDP at national level.

But giving reasons for their defection, Okowa said the move was in the best interest of the state. He spoke during the APC welcome ceremony for the defectors on Monday.

According to Okowa: “When the news broke on Wednesday that we had decided to change our path, people wondered why, but one thing is very important in a people’s history: there is always a time to change their path for the common good of the people.

“As I did tell people that day, it was not about me, it was not about the governor, but the fact that there is a need for us to connect to Abuja, that goodwill that is in Abuja, that resource that’s in Abuja of which Delta State is a large contributor, there was a need to connect to it.

“I was governor for eight years. I was in opposition. I did my best but we lost a lot. And I did not believe that the governor needed to stay working very hard, and we know that we are very supportive of Governor Sheriff because he’s doing a lot.

“But as the governor is doing a lot for us, he also needs to connect to the greater source of power and resource and goodwill in Abuja.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday said that the President Donald Trump administration is open to arresting Supreme Court judges if they harbor illegal immigrants.

She stated this while addressing a question from Fox News’s Peter Doocy on the position of some judges regarding illegal migrants in the United States.

The reporter asked, “You guys arrested a Milwaukee County Circuit judge for allegedly helping illegal immigrants get away.

“As you guys look at other judges, would you ever arrest somebody higher up on the judicial food chain, like a federal judge or even a Supreme Court justice?”

Responding to the question, the White House Press Secretary said, “Anyone who is breaking the law or obstructing federal law enforcement officials from doing their jobs is putting theirselvses at risk of being prosecuted, absolutely.”

On the case of the Milwaukee County Circuit judge, Leavitt said the judge “obstructed federal law enforcement who were looking for an illegal alien in her courthouse”.

She stressed that the judge “showed that illegal alien the door to evade law enforcement officials. That is a clear cut case of obstruction”

The Kano State House of Assembly has initiated moves to establish a new law that would empower the state government to create an Electricity Regulatory Agency aimed at addressing the persistent power supply challenges facing residents and revitalizing the state’s industries.

Presenting the bill during the Assembly’s plenary session on Monday, the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Husaini Dala, explained that the proposed agency would develop a comprehensive framework for managing Kano’s electricity market.

Dala further stated that the agency would be tasked with implementing modern strategies and diversifying power generation sources to meet the energy needs of Kano’s population.

He noted that the bill would also enable the agency to regulate electricity distribution, particularly to industries and businesses, with the goal of attracting greater investment into the state.

Speaking to Premier Radio, a local radio station on the matter, the Assembly’s Chief Press Secretary, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, said the establishment of the agency would mark a significant step towards Kano achieving energy self-sufficiency.

“Once the legislative process is completed, Kano State will be on the path to independently generating and managing its own electricity, reducing reliance on the national grid,” Shawai said.

The lawmakers have already intensified deliberations on the bill.

They believe the creation of the agency would pave the way for a stable, affordable, and more accessible electricity supply for Kano residents.
