Spyro made this appeal through his Instagram account on Thursday. In his statement, he also urged religious leaders to step in and voice their support for the protests.

“I personally believe it is highly insensitive to post any entertainment content at this time. The country is suffering, and we are all impacted, whether we acknowledge it or not. I am deeply affected and particularly feel the pain of the average citizen,” he stated.

He called on the government to listen to the people and encouraged other celebrities to join the protest by using their platforms to raise awareness.

“I do not intend to remain silent, so I am calling on everyone with a platform to speak out. I hope the government will see our tears this time and take concrete steps for the betterment of the people. #GODBLESSNIGERIA.

“I wish religious leaders could speak up for the people now, just as they did in the past… This is not a time for prayer; it’s a time for action. Even the Bible says, ‘FAITH without WORKS is dead.’ In biblical times, religious leaders were powerful tools that God used to challenge the government and liberate the people. MOSES, your people need you now.”

The #EndBadGovernance protest began on Monday, August 1, with citizens across the country protesting and demanding that the government address issues of poor governance and hunger.
