JERUSALEM/COLOMBO (Reuters) -Israel’s national security council called on Israelis on Wednesday to immediately leave some tourist areas in southern Sri Lanka over the threat of a possible terrorist attack.

The agency said the warning pertained to the area of Arugam Bay and beaches in the south and west of Sri Lanka, and stemmed from “current information about a terrorist threat focused on tourist areas and beaches”.

The security council did not specify the exact nature of the threat and called on Israelis in the rest of Sri Lanka to be cautious and refrain from holding large gatherings in public areas.

“The Israeli security establishment … is in close contact with the security authorities in Sri Lanka and is following the developments,” it said.

The U.S. embassy in Sri Lanka also released a security alert stating it had received “credible information warning of an attack targeting popular tourist locations in the Arugam Bay area”.

“U.S. citizens are strongly urged to avoid the Arugam Bay area until further notice,” it added but did not give details.

Police security has been beefed up in the area and officials are on high alert, police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa said in a video statement released in Colombo.

“This area is a popular spot for surfing and this has attracted a large number of Israeli tourists. We are working to ensure they remain safe,” Thalduwa said.

Sri Lanka, famed for its pristine beaches, tea plantations and historic temples, is seeing a resurgence in tourists as the island nation recovers from a severe financial crisis.

In the first eight months of this year, 1.5 million tourists arrived in Sri Lanka, including a total of 20,515 from Israel, government data showed.

Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, addressed recent rumors claiming he had passed away, attributing them to envy over the positive reception he received at the burial ceremony of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha expressed dismay at the “breaking news” circulated by unnamed sources on November 6, 2024, alleging he had died in a London hospital due to a fabricated illness referred to as “acute gorilla.”

The statement emphasized that Okorocha, who had been present in Owerri for the burial, was in good health and has not been sick since leaving office in 2019.

“To all men and women of conscience,” the statement declared, “the correct breaking news is that Rochas Okorocha is neither sick nor dead. He has been hale and hearty throughout his stay in Owerri and has continued with his schedule, attending services in Abuja in honor of prominent Igbos, including Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.”

The statement also criticized the originators of the rumor, characterizing them as “dead in spirit” and accusing them of harboring resentment over the ovation Okorocha received at Iwuanyanwu’s burial. Okorocha expressed compassion for them, urging collective prayers for their spiritual healing, and rejecting any ill wishes toward them.

“Those who came up with this news,” the statement continued, “are angry about the ovation Okorocha received. We do not curse those whom God has blessed. Instead, we wish these individuals genuine repentance and a return to a normal life. We pray for them,” it concluded.

S3x Scandal: Equatorial Guinea has dismissed Baltasar Ebang Engonga as Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency
Spread the love

The government of Equatorial Guinea has dismissed Baltasar Ebang Engonga as Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) after widely circulating s3x videos involving him and numerous women surfaced online.

The government earlier suspended Mr Engonga following the leak of over 400 alleged s3x tapes of him in intimate situations with multiple women, some linked to high-profile figures in the country.

Real Equatorial Guinea reported that President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo ordered the dismissal of Mr Engonga, the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).

The newspaper added that according to Decree No. 118/2024, dated 4 November, the dismissal cites Mr Engonga’s alleged misconduct in office, alongside family and social behaviour deemed incompatible with public office.

A state television station in the country, TVGE, reported Mr Engonga’s s£x tapes were leaked when he was remanded in custody at Malabo’s infamous Black Beach prison over an embezzlement of public funds.

Meanwhile, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue directed the country’s telecommunications ministry, regulator, and telecommunications companies to curb the distribution of pornographic videos.

He emphasised that the government cannot continue to allow families to be harmed by the viral circulation of the 54-year-old economist’s video.

Equatorial Guinea’s chief prosecutor, Anatolio Nzang Nguema, has assured the people that if medical tests confirmed the economist had a sexually transmitted disease, he would face prosecution for endangering ‘public health’.

A Tragic Loss: Security Guard Killed by Dogs in Lekki

A heartbreaking story has circulated on social media since yesterday: a young man from Benue State (tiv) known as Steve, working as a security guard in an estate in Lekki, was reportedly attacked and killed by dogs. The dogs attacked him severely, leading to his tragic death, and his remains have been taken to the mortuary.

Ekwutosblog have also learnt that the owner of the dogs has been arrested. The general public is calling on law enforcement to take action, and I hope this post reaches his family, as some reports suggest they may not yet know of his passing.
