President Bola Tinubu is currently presiding over the council of state meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari are in attendance, while Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar — former heads of state — joined virtually.
The meeting, which began at 12:35pm, is the first council of state gathering under Tinubu.
The council of state is an organ of the federal government saddled with advising the executive on policy making.
The last council of state meeting held on February 10, 2023, under Buhari.
Buhari had convened the meeting over the 2023 elections, the crisis emanating from the new naira redesign policy and fuel scarcity.
