The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended an officer, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration II (ASI 2) Okpravero C. Ufuoma, indefinitely for soliciting financial gratification from a traveler at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The officer was caught on camera begging a traveler for money, which led to his suspension.
The NIS has condemned the officer’s behavior, stating it does not reflect the organization’s values and ethics of professionalism.
The suspension is pending the outcome of disciplinary procedures, which will be conducted by the law and Public Service Rules.
