Kamala Harris has hit out at Donald Trump’s recent comments on the Ukraine conflict.

The vice-president and Democratic presidential candidate condemned the idea of Ukraine surrendering territories captured by Russia as part of a peace deal.

Earlier, Ukraine’s president emphasized that a resolution to the conflict would require the complete withdrawal of Russian forces.

“Ukraine has stood up to Russia’s aggression and today Kyiv stands free and strong. President Zelenskyy, I am clear. Putin started this war and he could end it tomorrow if he simply withdrew his troops from Ukraine’s sovereign territory,” she said.

She also rebuked her Republican opponent’s suggestion that Ukraine should accept a “bad deal,” saying: “They are not proposals for peace. Instead, they are proposals for surrender.”

Over the weekend, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump met in the U.S, where the Republican presidential candidate claimed he could quickly resolve the conflict if elected in November.
