Legendary fitness personality Richard Simmons has passed away at the age of 76.

The iconic fitness guru and TV personality, known for his flamboyant style and energetic workout videos, died on Saturday morning, just a day after celebrating his 76th birthday.

According to reports, a housekeeper called emergency services to Simmons’ home, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Simmons rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with the opening of his gyms and the release of numerous fitness tapes and DVDs, including the popular “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” series. He was a frequent guest on daytime and late-night shows, advocating for health and exercise.

In a rare interview published on his birthday, Simmons expressed gratitude for being alive and shared his plans to spend the day helping others. He had recently revealed a health scare in March, announcing on Facebook that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer and had undergone a procedure to remove the cancer cells.

Simmons’ death marks the end of an era for the fitness world, as he leaves behind a legacy of inspiring millions to adopt a healthier lifestyle through his workouts and motivational messages.
