A 55-year-old man, Osaro Ahunwan, allegedly set fire to the home of his estranged wife, Tina Uyi, in Idumwonwina, near Oluku, within the Ovia North-East Local Government Area, after she refused him entry.
Tina, a 54-year-old businesswoman based in Italy, returned to Nigeria on December 31, 2024, to celebrate the New Year with her family.
According to eyewitnesses, after being denied entry into Tina’s residence, Osaro allegedly doused the building with petrol and set it ablaze.
Tina’s aged parents were rescued by neighbours while Edo State Fire Service extinguished the fire.
