Shuaibu Audu The Minister of Steel Development has called on Nigerians to suspend the ongoing nationwide protests against the government, assuring that the President Bola Tinubu will diligently address the country’s challenges.
He encouraged citizens to have patience and trust in President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ which aims to drive economic prosperity, improve welfare, enhance education and health systems, and boost social amenities, food security, and infrastructure.
Highlighting the administration’s achievements over the past year, Audu emphasized that the government is committed to meeting citizens’ expectations before the end of President Tinubu’s first term.
He cited the implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage for workers and the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to reduce transportation costs by 70% as examples of the administration’s efforts to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
Audu also mentioned the president’s directive to redesign the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, which secured $2.5 million in financing for National Primary Health Care, aiming to provide better healthcare access to citizens.
In the steel sector, ongoing reforms are expected to create over 500,000 jobs and attract Foreign Direct Investments to diversify the economy.
The minister further appealed to Nigerians to avoid protests, citing intelligence reports of potential plans by miscreants to hijack the demonstrations and cause disorder.
He urged dialogue as a means to address concerns and foster a better Nigeria for all.
