Chude Jideonwo recently opened up about his thoughts on marriage, sharing a very personal reflection from his twenties during an interview with The Podcast Network.

According to him, at that time, he desperately wanted to get married because he believed having a wife would cure his deep sense of loneliness. However, with time and experience, he realized he was simply lonely — and marriage would not have solved that.

Chude pointed out that many people enter marriages hoping to fill emotional voids, yet some end up feeling even lonelier within their marriages. He stressed that loneliness is an internal battle and not necessarily something marriage can fix.

Today, Chude says he no longer feels that desperate desire to get married. He shared how some people often tell him, “You’ve not found the right woman, You have money, you can afford to take care of children.” But he made it clear that having money doesn’t automatically make someone ready or fit to raise children. In his words, “There are many people who have money but have abandoned their children. There are many wealthy people who are not emotionally available for their kids.”

While he acknowledges that he doesn’t know what the future holds, right now, he feels no pressure. Chude also spoke about how society, especially in Nigeria, tends to put emotional and cultural weight around marriage and parenting, but he doesn’t let that affect him.
