Namibia just made history! Africa’s FIRST country with BOTH a female President AND female Vice President. Maybe there’s hope for Nigeria one day after all…” – DJ Cuppy
Namibia has made history by electing its first female President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and female Vice President, Lucia Witbooi.
This milestone marks a significant step forward for gender equality and women’s leadership in Africa.
Nandi-Ndaitwah, a veteran politician and diplomat, secured 57% of the vote to become Namibia’s first female President. She’s joined by Witbooi, who made history as the country’s first female Vice President.
Namibia’s new leadership is a testament to the country’s commitment to inclusivity and gender balance, with 8 out of 14 ministers being women.
DJ Cuppy took to her Twitter handle now X and congratulated Namibia on this groundbreaking achievement, expressing her hope that Nigeria will follow suit. She wrote:

This achievement brings hope for other African countries to celebrate women’s empowerment and follow in Namibia’s footsteps. As Cuppy’s comment reflects, there’s a desire for increased female representation in Nigeria’s leadership, and hopefully, this milestone will inspire future generations of women leaders.
