The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has categorically denied plans to shut down major cities across the country, describing such claims as baseless and false.
In a statement on Tuesday, NANS Senate President Akinteye Babatunde emphasized that the association is committed to peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement, not civil unrest or disruption of public order.
NANS urged the public to disregard the claims, attributing them to faceless entities seeking to exploit the association’s name for malicious purposes.
The statement called on security agencies to investigate the origin of the misinformation and hold those responsible accountable.
NANS reaffirmed its mission to advocate for students’ rights and welfare through peaceful and lawful channels, emphasizing its commitment to peace, progress, and national unity.
