30th July, 2024.

The Director General National Directorate of Employment NDE, His Excellency, Silas Ali Agara applauds President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for magnimously assenting to the new national minimum wage act of #70,000 for Nigerian workers.

The New minimum wage bill passed on Tuesday 23rd July, 2024 by the National Assembly, was signed by the President on Monday 29th July, 2024, bringing to an end the prolonged agitation for wage increase by the organised Labour in the country.

This swift and proactive steps taken by the President no doubt, highlights his pragmatic commitment to improving the quality of lives of Nigerian workers who are the bedrock of any productive system. It is also very strategic and timely towards assuading the demands of aggrieved Nigerian Youths who are planning to stage a nationwide protest against economic hardship and hunger scheduled for August 1st 2024.

I am indeed delighted at this measure and other necessary steps being taken by the Federal Government to cushion the current economic hardships in the country as it ppwill go a long way to reinvigorate the nation’s economy on the part of sustainable development.

I therefore, urged the benefiting Nigerian workers to reciprocate the kind gesture by working hard, shun corruption and resist any form of planned protests being sponsored by the enemies of our nation.

The National Directorate of Employment NDE under my watch is ready to key into Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to create more jobs for the teaming Nigerian Youths and keep our productive sector active for national development and prosperity.

H. E. Silas Ali Agara
Director General NDE.
