The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
The decision was made by the NFF Executive Committee, with Labbadia’s appointment taking immediate effect.
Labbadia, born in Darmstadt, Germany, boasts an impressive playing and coaching career, including winning the German Bundesliga with Bayern Munich in 1994.
He has also coached top-tier teams like Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart.
As the sixth German to lead the Super Eagles, Labbadia faces an immediate challenge with two crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
His appointment comes after a disappointing draw against Benin Republic and a loss to the same team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will look to redeem themselves under Labbadia’s guidance, with the AFCON 2025 qualifiers offering a chance to bounce back from recent misfortunes.
