The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has issued a warning to the public about fraudulent emails and messages targeting applicants of the ongoing recruitment process. These fake communications are attempting to deceive individuals into divulging sensitive information or making payments.

Ekwutosblog gathered that  NCS emphasizes that it does not request payment, personal banking details, or confidential information from applicants through unofficial channels. All legitimate communications are conducted exclusively via the NCS’s authorized official platforms.

JUST IN: Three children, 12 others roasted to death in Enugu petrol tanker explosion

Tragedy struck on Saturday in Enugu when a petrol tanker exploded along the Ugwu Onyeama section of the Enugu -Onitsha Expressway, killing at least 15 people, including three children.

The explosion, which occurred around 11:30am, caused widespread panic, affecting another petrol tanker and razing six other vehicles.

It was not clear how the incident happened but witnesses told our correspondent that the explosion occurred when a fuel-laden tanker fell while navigating down the hilly busy expressway.

They described the blast as devastating, saying that the ensuing fire also gutted another truck behind it, leading to the escalation if the fire.

Rescue efforts were hindered by the intensity of the fire, making it difficult for bystanders to access the scene.

Victims reportedly burnt beyond recognition werr believed to be occupants of the vehicles caught in the inferno.

It was gathered that some of the victims were attempting to run away from the scene when they were caught by the fire.

When contacted, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Franklin Agbakoba Onyekwere, told our correspondent that he was at the crime scene and yet to fully collate data.

Last week, Orsu erupted in celebrations as security personnel successfully apprehended one of the men who had been terrorizing and killing residents in the community.

Villagers revealed that the suspect, known by the nickname “Mpompo Nwa,” had been hiding his weapons with the help of his mother after each criminal operation.

Both the suspect and his mother have been caught and sent to meet their ancestors.

Breaking News: Lawyers Strike Over Colleague’s Tragic Death in Imo

On January 23, 2025, courts in the Mgbidi, Oguta, and Omumma regions of Imo State have suspended operations in response to the shocking murder of a prominent lawyer, Chinedu Nwowu.

Nwowu was ambushed and fatally shot on Wednesday evening while traveling in his hometown of Mgbidi by unidentified assailants. This heinous act has ignited fear and concern throughout the state, with the motive still unknown.

In solidarity, the Orlu Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has declared a strike, halting all court proceedings in the affected areas. An emergency meeting for NBA members is set to take place at the High Court in Mgbidi, with the following announcement shared by Chukwuemeka Okoro:

Following the gruesome murder of our colleague, Chinedu Nwowu, all lawyers of the Oru/Oguta Forum are invited to an emergency meeting today at 10 AM at the Mgbidi High Court. Please be punctual.

The Chairman of the NBA Orlu Branch, Ben Amukamara, reiterated that there will be no court sessions in Oguta, Mgbidi, and Omumma until further notice.

As of now, the state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, has not provided any updates regarding the investigation into Nwowu’s tragic death.
