Following the death of the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has inaugurated the National Burial Committee and set November 1 as the date for his burial.
The committee, headed by Senator Ben Obi is composed of eminent Nigerians from various walks of life, they are saddled with the commitment to ensure that the burial reflects the immense contributions of Chief Iwuanyanwu to the Igbo Nation and Nigeria at large.
Uzodimma described the moment as an honour, emphasizing the significance of paying tribute to Chief Iwuanyanwu’s legacy.
He maintained that the committee whose members were diversely selected underscores the widespread impact of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s life and work and that their collective efforts will ensure a fitting celebration of his life and achievements.
The governor said that under the guidance of Senator Ben Obi and the National Burial Committee, the event will undoubtedly be an immortalization of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s enduring legacy and his contributions to the Igbo Nation and Nigeria.
Earlier, in a press statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba the governor approved 29 members and 8 individuals from various professional bodies as local organizing committee.
