Doyin Okupe predicts a power shift in 2027, stating that it may not be Tinubu, but the presidency won’t return to the North.
A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has firmly asserted that the presidency will not revert to the North in 2027. During an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Okupe addressed those advocating for a Northern presidency in the upcoming election.
He pointed out that sectionalism is a primary issue contributing to Nigeria’s stagnation, emphasizing that past political leaders prioritized national interests over regional ones.
He stated unequivocally that power will not return to the North in 2027, highlighting the established practice of alternating leadership between the North and South, where the North holds power for eight years followed by the South.
While he clarified that he is not suggesting Bola Tinubu must be the president in 2027, he reiterated that a candidate from the North will not be considered.
