The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has bid farewell to its outgoing Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, who has completed his tenure as the head of the commission.

TalkJudith reports that during a farewell parade held in his honor at the national headquarters in Abuja, Biu highlighted the significant achievements of his administration.

Under his leadership, the FRSC achieved a remarkable 22% reduction in road traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities. This accomplishment was made possible through various welfare packages and initiatives aimed at motivating staff, including:
– Promotion of 7,188 personnel, some of whom had been stagnated on the same rank for 14 years
– Employment of 3,537 personnel
– Conversion of 500 personnel from Marshal cadre to Officers cadre
– Approval for 500 personnel to pursue further studies
– Release of funds to settle outstanding transfer allowances
– Improvement of the FRSC Housing Scheme
– Establishment of the FRSC Training Institution
– Training of FRSC personnel to enhance their skills and capabilities
– Training of FRSC paramedics and patrol operatives on casualty handling in partnership with the Ford Foundation
These efforts led to a 37% increase in the number of crash victims rescued alive, from 26,180 in 2022 to 35,788 in 2023.

Also, Nigeria was appointed as a member of the High-Level Consultative Committee for the 2025 Ministerial Conference in Road Safety in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Biu’s administration also strengthened partnerships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to tackle rising traffic infractions.

Other achievements included the creation of 113 new Commands, the injection of 335 patrol vehicles, improved post-crash emergency response, establishment of FRSC HMO under the NHIS, and sustained road safety audit.

The outgoing Corps Marshal expressed his gratitude to the Management and staff of the Corps for their cooperation and commitment during his leadership.
He acknowledged that the achievements were made possible due to the passion, commitment, and resilience of the entire workforce.
