As Hon. MacDonald Ebere leads delegation to engage traditional rulers in Owerri Zone..

The State Party Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Hon.Sir MacDonald Ebere, PhD, today led a delegation of Owerri zonal APC leaders to the palace of HRH, Eze Akujobi Osuagwu (EZIKOCHE II OF AWAKA), the traditional ruler of AWAKA autonomous community and the zonal Chairman of NdeEzeOwerri zone, where they met with a constellation of traditional rulers from Owerri Zone. The meeting was held to discuss and seek the support of the traditional rulers in advancing the leadership’s good plans for the zone.
The delegation, comprising prominent political leaders and officials from Owerri zone, arrived at the palace of Eze Osuagwu amidst pomp and pageantry .
The Chairman of Imo APC, representing the zonal leaders of the party, delivered a speech on behalf of the Governor of Imo State and expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their unwavering support in ensuring the stability of security in their respective domains which according to him hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Governor Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma .
In his address, Hon. Ebere emphasized four key points that formed the agenda of the meeting. Firstly, he conveyed the party’s appreciation for the traditional rulers’ support to the present Government of His Excellency Dist.Sen Hope Uzodimma and their efforts in maintaining peace and security in their various communities. Secondly, he highlighted the party’s endorsement of the Imo State Charter of Equity, which advocates for an Owerri zone indigene to succeed Governor Uzodimma after his eight years tenure.
Furthermore, the Chairman appealed to the traditional rulers to call upon individuals from the zone, who belong to opposition parties and harbor gubernatorial ambitions in the upcoming November 11 election, not to disrupt the envisioned 2027 golden plan with their present political pursuits. Lastly, he urged the traditional rulers to take charge of their respective communities by ensuring the continuous existence of peace and tranquility.
Another key point raised by Hon. Ebere was for the traditional rulers to go back to various communities and sensitize their people on the rich importance of partaking in the Imo state social benefit program which has entered it’s second phase, as successful enrollees will be entitled to all government programs such as; Loan/grant, Free medical care, Employment, Empowerment programs, and many more.
Following the Chairman’s speech, Prince Lemmy Akakem spoke strongly on the Charter of Equity and how it is advisable for all owerri zone indigenes to adopt it. Chief Henry Njoku spoke in support of what Hon. Ebere outlined in the four point agenda he rolled out, as Hon kanayo Onyemaechi also lent his voice on some of the points raised in the course of the interactive session.
Imo State Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku expressed his strong belief in the realization of the Owerri zone project and took time to explain the benefit the zone will enjoy should the 2027 vision comes to physical materialization .
Eze Akujobi in his response assured the delegation of their commitment to maintaining peace and tranquility in the various localities under their rulership. He expressed full support for the Imo State Charter of Equity, emphasizing its favorable implications for the Owerri zone gubernatorial project. Eze Akujobi requested the Chairman to convey their message of goodwill to Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The visit of Imo APC Chairman and his team to the palace of Eze Osuagwu signifies the APC’s proactive engagement with traditional rulers and their recognition of the influential role these monarchs play in shaping political dynamics within their domains. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the meeting serves as a strategic move to garner support for the party’s zonal agenda and strengthen its position ahead of future elections.
