On August 18, 2024, Ivy Zenny posted on her Instagram story to address the increasing trend of internet users engaging in trolling and negativity, highlighting her aversion to such behavior.
She stated, “I’ve encountered numerous trolls, and nothing bothers me, honestly. This isn’t about me, though. For some of these individuals, the moment they receive a bit of attention, they shift their narrative to, ‘It’s just a joke’, it’s not that serious, I just wanted your attention. Love you, please help me/help my family.'”
Ivy Zenny specifically targeted individuals who use trolling as a way to gain attention or financial support from celebrities, emphasizing that such actions are “humiliating.” She also stressed that, unlike Nigerian singer Chike, she will not be providing any troll with money.
“I wish you could understand how humiliating it is to leave hate comments for fun, recognition, or money. Not everyone has Chike’s heart. They’re now playing because of 1 million naira. You won’t even see 1 kobo. Just save yourself the embarrassment, please. 100% of the time, you really do look foolish here,” she added.
Her post elicited reactions from other Instagram users, with some supporting her stance.
“She’s not wrong, though A lot of these trolls They never see food but they want to troll people who send them money just to get attention like she said .
Let the trolls continue; they won’t get anything. Yeye dey smell . She’s right; they should stop, please ,” an Instagram user wrote in agreement.
