Obi made the announcement while addressing final-year students of Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha, during a special visit to mark the International Day of Education.

Reflecting on his connection with the school, Obi recalled an inspiring moment from 1970 when he joined other students at DMGS to salute General Yakubu Gowon. “Through education, I was able to grow to the point where I sat with him on the same table and made decisions,” he added.

In addition to his visit to the school, Obi presented a donation of ₦25 million to Rex Universorum Charles Heerey Hospital, a mission hospital in Mmiata Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area. The hospital is managed by the Immaculate Heart of Mary congregation, a Catholic organization.

During the presentation to Mother Mary Akabogu, leader of the congregation, Obi highlighted the importance of supporting mission healthcare facilities, which he described as critical to the nation’s health development. He also reminded the congregation of his role in handing over the facility to them during his tenure as governor of Anambra State.

Obi’s actions and commitments underscore his dedication to education and healthcare development, two sectors he has consistently championed throughout his career.
