Police Arrest Suspect As Teenager Dies During Football Match

Operatives of police command in Ogun state have arrested a suspect named Alex Eziochukwu over the death of Jamilu Lasisi, 16 in Ibegba, Sagamu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Ekwutosblog reports that the Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola revealed that the culprit was arrested on Wednesday based on information provided by the deceased’s nephew.
She said, “A phone call was received from one Tobi Olarewaju that his nephew, Jamiu Lasisi, 16 years old, of the same address, was playing football in the area alongside others.”

“In the process, an argument ensued between him and one of the footballers; he fell unconscious, and he was rushed to Owokoniran Hospital, GRA Sagamu, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.”

Odutola said Eziochukwu ran away, making police conduct a search that resulted in his capture on Wednesday morning.

She said, “Following the report on Tuesday, a team of detectives was led to the scene and searched every nook and cranny of the area to arrest the suspect, but all to no avail until he was arrested today.”

The spokesperson noted that investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the teenager’s death.
