The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a group of individuals suspected of engaging in organ harvesting, a grisly trade involving the killing of victims for their body parts, which are then sold in various states.

Among the arrested are individuals with diverse backgrounds, including a woman identified as an Osun priestess, a community chief, an Ifa priest, an Islamic cleric, and a traditional medicine practitioner.

Confirming the arrests, spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the suspects, operating within a specific division of Lagos, were detained based on intelligence received from the public.

According to reports, the gang’s leader, 33-year-old Ademola Akinlosotu, initially admitted to exhuming corpses from cemeteries and selling body parts to ritualists. However, he later confessed to engaging in the killing of individuals to meet the demand for fresh body parts from clients.

Akinlosotu revealed that he and his accomplices carried out the killings, with the harvested organs supplied to a 52-year-old man identified as Ahmed Wahab, also known as Alfa Bororo. Wahab operated across Lagos State and Ogun State, fulfilling clients’ requests for human body parts.

The suspect disclosed varying prices for different body parts, with a fresh human head fetching between N45,000 and N50,000, a dried human head priced at N30,000 to N35,000, a heart at N70,000, and hands at N50,000.
