However, the specific event hosted by the Presidency that required this decoration expense remains unclear.

A review of the public payment portal, Govspend, shows the Nigerian Presidency made a payment of N19.98 million to Rock of Ages Total Events Limited on July 5, 2024, for the “full-scale decoration of Sheraton Hotel for a 300-capacity event.”
However, the specific event hosted by the Presidency that required this decoration expense remains unclear.
The government incurred an additional expense of N57.8 million for catering services provided during the Presidential dinner anniversary on June 12th, with the payment made to Regal Limited on July 5th.

This expenditure is linked to the Democracy Day celebration held at the State Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, where the Presidency hosted a dinner event.

The State House has faced criticism for paying N19.98 million into the personal account of Adi Cynthia Ada on July 13, 2024, for the replacement of “worn-out entertainment” items.
This transaction has raised concerns as it contradicts the Tinubu administration’s professed dedication to transparency and accountability, particularly regarding the use of public funds.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government had disbursed over N809 million in humanitarian interventions and other purposes into individual bank accounts, according to data from the (link unavailable) portal.

An investigation by SaharaReporters revealed that the funds were distributed in more than 65 transactions, violating legal requirements.

The payments were made under various guises, including engagement of Internally Displaced Persons, needs assessment for humanitarian interventions, technical dialogue proposals, rent renewals, stipends, and others
