President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu unveiled the #WeAreEqual campaign, a drive to promote inclusive education, skill development, and gender equity across Africa.
Led by the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), the initiative spans 15 African countries, focusing on health, education, economic empowerment, and gender-based violence.
In Nigeria, the campaign, spearheaded by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu CON, champions “Education as a Powerful Tool for Change.” President Tinubu emphasized the importance of education in achieving gender equity and equal opportunities. He highlighted ongoing efforts such as the reintroduction of the Alternative High School for Girls and the Student’s Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to ending gender-based violence and ensuring quality education for all Nigerian children, urging collective action to empower women and girls.
