….. This is an act of political hallucination taken too far… IHFGG

The attention of Imo Hope for Good Governance headed by Hon. Chris Mbarie, has been drawn to a worthless spewing of a band of uncoordinated and hallucinating people parading themselves as people speaking onbehalf of the presumed candidate of Labour Party in the coming gubernatorial elections, Sen. Athan Achonu. Their media spewing, referring to the utterance of Chief Athan Achonu to the performing Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, is both lacking in substance and fact going by the facts of Imo governance.

Crediting to Chief Athan Achonu that he has the effrontery and without shame, calling on the performing Governor to resign as a result of security imperatives of the country and Imo State, a subnational entity, is ridiculous and a product of debased mind parading as standard bearer of a sect who continue to show indifference to harbingers of insecurity, refusing to condemn same. Is Chief Athan Achonu suggesting that he knows and supports the proponents of insecurity such that if the community leaders rise up, they will be nipped in the bud?

By virtue of the fact that Sen. Athan Achonu is a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is therefore supposed to realise that he is a stakeholder in the nation and the subnational, Imo State. Being a stakeholder means that he would be conscious of the fact that security is everybody’s business and no one is insulated from mishap once breeches occur. We are aware that traditional rulers and Presidents General are custodians of local security architecture in their domains and youths are implicit part of security structure and therefore for him to be engaged in prebendal vituperation of alleging that if the governor asks them to rise up to their charge, it has turned to abdicating responsibility, and as such, calling on him to resign, is a joke or ignorance of governance structure, taken too far.

For purposes of emphasis, we are aware that the unquantifiable and Sterling performance of Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has become so intimidating to people like Chief Athan Achonu and his likes, such that not knowing what to say, he resorts to concocted figmentation of imagination, citing insecurity as a reference point.

If Chief Athan Achonu will lack the courage to give open condemnation to the actions of the proponents of insecurity, then something is amiss. If in his thoughts, directing traditional rulers, PGs, youths and all stakeholders of the communities to rise up to the tenets of security, is a misnomer, it means that Chief Athan Achonu deserves psychiatric check up because he lacks understanding of inclusive security architecture.

Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma has shown clear leadership capacity, showing that security is not a matter of procuring hardware and going after supposedly innocent people, but an intelligent engagement of all stakeholders in order to minimize casualty and achieve peaceful community existence.

It is therefore preposterous and showing lack of character for a supposedly national stakeholder to engage in such demeaning utterance all in the name of scoring cheap political goal while failing to condemn those fuelling insecurity as a political tool.

Our dear governor has demonstrated sincerity of purpose, charisma, performance and altruistic sense of purpose and therefore deserves second term in office. Your cheap blackmail is baseless and insensitive and totally rejected by well-meaning People of Imo State. We cannot be deceived or distraught by your spewing gibberish.

It may not be Tinubu but power can’t return to North In 2027 – Okupe
Spread the love

Ex-presidential aide to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has emphatically declared that the presidency will not return to the North in 2027.

Okupe, who made the assertion on Monday during an interview, tackled those agitating for the Northern presidency in the next election.

He identified sectionalism as the “most fundamental problems why Nigeria is stagnating”, stressing that “those who control the affairs of this nation, in terms of politics before now, were more interested in national interest than sectional interest”.

He stated, “I say this authoritatively without any fear of contradiction or equivocation, in 2027, power cannot return to the North yet. That’s not how we do it.”

“We rotate between the North and the South. The North does eight years, at the end of which the South does eight years.

“I’m not saying that Bola Tinubu must be president in 2027, but it’s not going to be a northerner,” he explained.
