Today, we celebrate a titan of Nigerian politics, a master strategist, a builder of men and a champion of the people, His Excellency, Chief James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State.

As the foremost political leader and rallying force of Delta State, the influence and impact of Chief Ibori transcends generations. With a career spanning several decades, Chief Ibori has remained a constant rallying point in Nigeria.

His dedication to the progress of Delta State, Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole is a testament to his pragmatic leadership. It is on record that Chief James Onanefe Ibori championed the cause of the Niger Delta for resource control as he was at the forefront at the time. That struggle gave birth to the enactment of the NDDC Act.

As a respected elder statesman, Chief Ibori continues to inspire and mentor leaders, fostering a culture of excellence and selfless service. He has continued to build bridges across the length and breadth of our country. He laid the foundation for the connection of the hinterlands to the cities by deliberately constructing bridges in areas that were termed “difficult terrain”. Indeed, Chief Ibori has paid his dues.
