Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey concluded their “Redemption Tour” with a gold medal in front of a boisterous crowd at the Bercy Arena.

The U.S. men’s soccer team advanced to the knockout stage for the first time in 24 years, while the women’s rugby team secured their first-ever Olympic medal.

Simone Biles and the rest of the women’s gymnastics team excelled in the women’s team event on Tuesday. Team USA regained their position at the top of the podium, returning the U.S. to the pinnacle after a second-place finish three years ago at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Biles’ outstanding performance earned her fifth Olympic gold medal, solidifying her status as the greatest American gymnast and one of the finest athletes in Olympic history. Biles became the most decorated American gymnast in front of a crowd that included Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Spike Lee, Michael Phelps, and Nadia Comaneci at a lively Bercy Arena.

This marked the eighth Olympic medal for the 27-year-old Biles, who had previously been tied with Shannon Miller at seven. Italy secured the silver medal, and Brazil won the bronze.
