Contrary to earlier reports of his disappearance, Speed Darlington, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, is currently being held in police custody in Abuja, according to activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju.
Adeyanju revealed that Speed Darlington was arrested in Lagos last Friday and transferred to Abuja, where he has been detained since.
The arrest was reportedly made following a formal complaint filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy.
Speed Darlington’s disappearance was first reported by social media influencer Constance Nwogu, who expressed concern over his whereabouts, noting that he had been unreachable for three days.
However, Adeyanju’s update confirms that Speed Darlington is in police custody.
The controversy surrounding Speed Darlington’s arrest stems from a video he posted questioning the authenticity of Burna Boy’s Grammy award and linking him to American musician Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.
Burna Boy responded to the news of Speed Darlington’s reported disappearance with a cryptic message on X, saying “Who’s missing?”.
The police have not released any information regarding Speed Darlington’s arrest or detention.
