President Bola Tinubu has said that those making claims of the 2024 budget being padded, do not know arithmetic.

Tinubu reacted to Senator Abdul Ningi’s claim of the 2024 budget being padded to the tune of N3.7 trillion, while hosting the leadership of the Senate to break the Ramadan fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, March 22.

The President who noted that the integrity of the National Assembly must remain intact, added that his administration would always encourage cooperation with the National Assembly for the advancement of the country.

He said;

“I know the arithmetic of the budget and the numbers that I brought to the National Assembly, and I know what numbers came back. I appreciate all of you for the expeditious handling of the budget.

“Those who are talking about malicious embellishment in the budget; did not understand the arithmetic and did not refer to the baseline of what I brought. But your integrity is intact.

“I am grateful for what you have been doing. The natural challenge we are facing will be over. We are about turning the corner. Our revenue has improved. All we have to do is control expenditure and manage ourselves better.”

On the recent killing of soldiers in Delta State, the President insisted that the killers would face the full wrath of the law. Tinubu said;

“Our armed forces are working hard, and we will not allow attackers to undermine the integrity and value of our armed forces and its leadership.

“We will continue to encourage and fight for our sovereignty, our individual rights to exist, and we will succeed in banishing poverty from our land. ”

Please pardon me before Trump throws me in jail – Cohen begs President Biden

A former lawyer of United States President-elect Donald Trump, has pleaded with outgoing President Joe Biden to grant him a pardon just like he did for his son Hunter.

Cohen is claiming that Trump will punish him for testifying against the politician in his hush money conviction.

Cohen had already been convicted for his role in the case years earlier.

He was also the star witness for the prosecution as Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in the case last year.

Cohen served as the go-between for the $130,000 payment Trump made to adult film star, Stormy before the 2016 presidential election.

With Mr Trump ready to return to the White House in a week, Mr Cohen is calling on Mr Biden to issue a presidential pardon for him before he leaves office, stating that he and others on Mr Trump’s ‘enemies list’ deserved pardons like Mr Biden’s son, who was granted full and unconditional pardon.

“I put in application for the presidential pardon because I believe Joe Biden has the same responsibility to be that he has to his son”, Cohen said. “I would expect the same exact pardon he gave his son to me and anyone that is on that enemies list whether they want it or not because solitary confinement where I did 51 days sucks.”

The disgraced lawyer, however, said he was shocked that Trump received unconditional release during his sentencing.

Senator Shehu Sani, former senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has itemized twelve factors that undermine education in Northern Nigeria, with insecurity as the topmost factor.

In a verified Facebook post on Monday, Senator Sani said that insecurity, terrorism, and banditry, including poor infrastructure, pose serious challenges.

According to him, “Cultural and religious barriers, low funding, poverty, teacher shortages, child labour, discrimination against girls, low access to technology, health challenges, and the increasing number of people living with disabilities, as well as the systemic retention of the street Almajiri system, neglect, misplacement, and mismanagement of resources by successive governments.”

He added that these issues require urgent attention.
