Born on August 16, 1951, he died on May 5, 2010 at the age of 59. He would have been 73 now if he were alive.
He was declared the winner of the election held on 21st April, 2007, and served as president for three years.
Today, we remember what he stood for and how he worked towards it. We remember his focus on building strong institutions so that the very DNA of our democracy would be founded on laws and best practices, not on the whims of men.
We also remember his unfinished work, and how we must all work together–regardless of where we stand-to actualize his dreams of a better Nigeria.
we thank him for his service to our nation. And we pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will continue to grant him a place amongst the righteous ones in Al Jannah Firdaus.
Ameen.
