Donald Trump the Republican presidential candidate has agreed to debate Democratic opponent Vice President Kamala Harris on September 4, as announced on his Truth Social platform late Friday.
The debate will be hosted by Fox News and held in Pennsylvania, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, in front of a live audience.
This announcement comes shortly after Vice President Harris secured the Democratic Party’s nomination, following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race due to concerns about his age and declining polling numbers.
Biden’s withdrawal came after a poor performance in a June debate against Trump on CNN.
Trump initially hesitated to debate Harris, deviating from tradition by citing the need for her formal nomination before any debates.
Harris had previously challenged Trump to a debate, urging him to confront her directly.
It has been confirmed that the debate would follow similar rules to the June CNN debate between Trump and Biden.
