Donald Trump claimed to be completely unaware of the growing controversy around conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer as he faced questions about why he had allowed a woman who said 9/11 was an inside job to travel with him for commemoration events this week.

Loomer has become a regular fixture at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and this week made racist comments about Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris.

But at a press conference at his Los Angeles golf club in front of the Pacific Ocean on Friday, Trump refused to criticize her.

‘I don’t control Laura,’ he said. ‘I can’t tell Laura what to do. She’s a supporter.’

Instead he called her a ‘free spirit’ and claimed to know nothing about a post in which his supporter said ‘the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center’ if Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants won the election.

Former President Donald Trump broke his silence about Laura Loomer at a press conference

Trump spoke to reporters for more than an hour, railing against debate moderators once again, slamming California’s political leaders and taking aim at Haitian migrants.

But he faced most questions about Loomer, a 31-year-old far right activist.

Her presence on Trump’s private jet has alarmed many of the former president’s allies who believe that she is hurting his chances of winning over new voters.

He shrugged off questions about why she rode on his plane this week to a 9/11 event in Pennsylvania, and the memorial to flight 93.

‘A lot of people do,’ he said. ‘It’s a very big plane.’

Instead he claimed ignorance about her history of controversial remarks. He promised to read up on her comments and issue a statement.

After the event at his golf club he is due to head to a fundraiser hosted by billionaire software developer Tom Siebel and his wife Stacey.

Tickets start at $3000 all the way up to $500,000 for a couple to on the host committee at the event in the Bay Area town of Woodside.

Trump is playing catchup with Harris who has had a fundraising bonanza since entering the race in late July.

Laura Loomer arrives with Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump for a visit to the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Company in Shanksville

She also traveled with him this week to the presidential debate in Philadelphia

The two are locked in a tight battle. The DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners election model gives the former president a 55 percent chance of victory, with less than two months to go.

Both candidates have hit the campaign trail since the debate in swing states, making the case that they had the best debate night.

Trump was in Arizona on Thursday, when he was unapologetic about coming across as angry.

‘People said that I was angry at the debate, angry,’ he told a raucous crowd in Tucson.

‘I was angry, and yes, I am angry because she allowed 21 million illegal aliens invading our communities. Many of them are criminals.’

And he unveiled another populist economic measure, promising to abolish tax on overtime.

‘You know what that means? I think that gives people more of an incentive to work,’ he said.

‘It gives the companies a lot … it’s a lot easier to get the people.’

Critics will wonder how he plans to pay for it without adding to the nationall debt.

Obaseki: EFCC May Arrest Me Next Week But I Have Nothing To Hide

Obaseki: EFCC May Arrest Me Next Week But I Have Nothing To Hide

Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state, says he has been told that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will come knocking when his tenure elapses next week.

Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be handing over to Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on November 12.

Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, during the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session, ThisDay reports Obaseki as saying that he would spend his time in EFCC custody doing some research.

“I hear that the EFCC will pick me next week after my tenure. Wherever they keep me, I’ll spend time doing research,” he said.

Obaseki, who has served as Edo governor since 2016, said he has left a legacy in the state.

“There are many things we have done that can be described as legacy projects,” he added.

“I believe in Edo state. One of the things that will last for a very long time to come is the fact that we were able to focus on Edo people and the things that matter to them, reform and implement those things.”

Obaseki said he is being hounded by a “cruel and wicked” opposition in the state, adding that he would gladly hand himself over to the anti-graft agency when the operatives come calling.

“Why should I have fears? I just focused on what I believe in and today, you can see what has been achieved. What happens after that is not up to me,” the outgoing governor said.

“They can continue with their political witch-hunt and do all they can to hurt me, that’s their problem.

“I’m not afraid, I’m not worried. They have written all sorts of silly petitions against me and that’s part of the challenge. In fact, I can even hand myself over, and if they call me, I don’t have anything to hide.

“You know how this country is, it is all about bitterness, it is all about vendetta, wickedness.

“People who have opposed me in Edo state are cruel, very wicked people, very jealous and envious and this is because they cannot show as much as the achievements we have made in the past eight years.

“But what is important to us is to focus on our people in order to make Nigeria better because the suffering is too much.

“We have the advantage and privilege to make things happen. So, we should focus on issues and not on vendetta.”

On September 22, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo winner of the Edo governorship election with 291,667 votes.

Asue Ighodalo of the PDP and Obaseki’s preferred candidate, polled second with 247,274 votes.

Ighodalo has promised to challenge the outcome of the election in court.
