On August 25, 2024, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State celebrated his recent Supreme Court victory with a grand event at the Government House in Owerri.

The occasion began with a church service at the Government House Chapel, attended by a significant number of citizens from all 27 local government areas of Imo State.

Following the service, festivities continued at the Imo Banquet Hall, where Governor Uzodimma expressed deep gratitude to both the divine and the judiciary for upholding the results of the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election.

He also extended his thanks to the people of Imo State for their unwavering support and reiterated his dedication to delivering effective leadership.

In his address, Uzodimma emphasized the importance of adhering to zoning arrangements in the forthcoming Imo Local Government elections.

He urged all aspirants to approach the elections with integrity and fairness, noting that only one candidate would be elected as the Executive Council Chairman for each local government area and one as the Ward Councilor.

He stressed that the election should not be viewed as a do-or-die affair.

Turning to the issue of land grabbing, Uzodimma made a firm commitment to tackle this problem decisively.

He vowed to deal sternly with land grabbers, ensuring that they face appropriate consequences.

In addition, he assured individuals who have genuinely purchased land allocation forms from the state government to remain patient, as their land would be allocated in due course.

Uzodimma also addressed concerns about the qualifications of some candidates, clarifying that the funds spent on forms are directed to the party rather than state resources.

He reiterated that zoning formulas would be strictly observed to promote fairness and equity.

Furthermore, the governor condemned the use of oaths or charms in securing electoral victories, declaring that any candidates engaging in such practices would face disqualification under his administration.

In conclusion, Governor Uzodimma announced plans to meet with Evangelist Ebuka Obi, highlighting his support for the Catholic community and his shared vision for advancing Imo State.

The celebration was attended by various APC senators from Imo, top government officials, and supporters of the Shared Prosperity Administration.

This event underscored Uzodimma’s commitment to transparent and fair electoral practices while reinforcing his firm stance against land grabbing and corruption in Imo State.
