Yeni Kuti, the eldest daughter of the legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has paid tribute to her father on the 27th anniversary of his passing.
The mother of one shared several images of her father’s injuries, which he sustained during his fight for a better life in Nigeria. These photographs, compiled into a collage, depict the numerous beatings he endured over the years, ultimately leading to his tragic death 27 years ago.
In the caption of her post, the woman, who celebrated her 60th birthday by purchasing a car, expressed her hope that her father’s struggles and suffering would not be forgotten.
Yeni also urged those in positions of power to listen to the voices of the people, emphasizing that the people are the most crucial element of any government.
This year’s tribute follows her commemoration of Fela’s 26th death anniversary last year.
